OMG, you wont’ believe it. I have actually had to do some cattle work the past few days. Ok, so I actually just had to open some gates and move some cattle up at the yards. Ok, so Tom did most of the work, but I had to supervise, right? I did have to get in there and help Tom move them which I actually like doing, believe it or not!
Mr Chardy and the rest of the gang have gone away for a Colt Challenge and won’t return until tomorrow, so basically I am running the show. Well, Tom – my 9 year old going on 39, actually thinks he is running things, and he probably is really. Mr Chardy left him a list of jobs that he obviously didn’t think I was capable of doing, and he was probably right:
1. Feed the Stallion (his pride and joy) morning and night
2. Feed the foal
3. Make sure foals have enough water
4. Feed Dog
5. Move Cattle @ cattle yards
I know – you are wondering why I didn’t go to the Colt Challenge, aren’t you? It was a hard decision, because we all know how much I love horses and all. I really had to think about it. I mean, the 9 hour drive there and back over a 3 day period to watch horses go round and round in stinking hot conditions was super tempting. But in the end I thought that 3 days of peace and quiet on the station was more to my liking. And right I was – It has been such a lovely quiet couple of days.
So just call me Cowgirl Chards if you will.
PS: if you are wondering where Harry was…. don’t worry, he was home watching ABC3 upside down on the lounge. He is a bit like me – an indoor cat.
