Our third annual Wild Spark event in Mt Isa is done and dusted for another year. We honestly can’t believe we are already in our third year and couldn’t be happier. The heart of Wild Spark is us: Dan & Ed, just two crazy ladies who love life… and pink… and pearls!!!
But it is more than just Ed & I, we couldn’t do it without our girl gang that we have formed over the years. These girls are just the best and the unofficial Wild Spark Committee.
A massive thank you to Kelli Steadman (below middle). Kel has been a part of the Wild Spark team since our very first event in 2019. Kel travels all the way up from Brisbane and we would be lost without her friendship and support. Thanks for all you do Kel! You really should see someone about a pay rise!!
This year we decided to do things a little differently and more in line with our other Wild Spark events that we have held. It was a long lunch held at Giuseppe’s Cantina.
What an amazing venue, we honestly could not fault them, from the very beginning when we started planning Jess and Angela could not have been more helpful. They really did make our life very very easy and the day went off without a hitch.
Ladies were welcomed with a glass of bubbly on arrival – thanks to Trek West Tailored Hiking Tours – and proceeded to swan around the fabulous pop up shops… sipping, shopping and catching up with each other.
We had 6 pop up shops in attendance, most of them returning for a 2nd or 3rd year with us – Priceless Pearls, Helen King More Than Scents, Isa Girl Friday and Ashlee Rose Bath & Body. We had a new shop on board this year – Naudic Clothing. Robyn travelled all the way up from Brisbane with Amanda from Sunday Cowgirl. Over the past 3 years we really have grown into quite the girl gang with all of our pop up shops and returning guests, and that is what it is all about – bringing women together. Naudic Clothing also dressed Ed and I on the day in our signature colours – white and pink! Thanks Naudic!!!
It wasn’t all sipping and shopping though, we were celebrating International Women’s Day and also raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service – an organisation very close to all of our hearts. We held silent auctions on the day and had some beautiful prizes donated by so many generous businesses. Between the auctions and also donations made while booking tickets we managed to raise over $1,700.00 – thank you to the following businesses who donated prizes…
And of course a massive thank you to all of the wonderful women who helped raise this money!!!
One of our lucky ladies also went home with a gift pack put together by Trine from the Xtra Mile Cafe…
Our guest speaker was Alana Mann. Alana spoke about her life growing up in Hervey Bay and where life has taken her since. Ed ad Alana grew up together and it was so fantastic to spend time with this amazing, resilient woman.
Now an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, Alana is a food activist and interdisciplinary scholar researching the power relations between media, governments, institutions and citizens, in the field of food politics. Alana is also an author, her latest book is Food in a Changing Climate. Congratulations on the recent launch of this book Alana!
While Alana was sharing her story we enjoyed a delicious sit down lunch followed by dessert. The food really was second to none.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Wild Spark event without a goodie bag and this year was no exception. Each lady went home with a pink spotty signature gift bag jam packed full of treats and vouchers. Of course there was the Allflex pink cattle tag, a Wild Spark pop socket and a sample of Bettyquette face oil.
Beautiful Hannah from Worn Out West in Mt Isa has been one of my biggest supports since before we even launched Wild Spark. She has listened to me bang on about starting something like this for years and I would be nothing without her advice and encouragement. She is very wise and an amazing business women. Each lady went home with a Worn Out West voucher in their Goodie Bag. Thanks Hannah!
There is a reason it took me so many years to launch this thing called Wild Spark. It is because I realised I couldn’t actually do it all by myself. I needed a partner in crime. I definitely met my match when Ed came into our lives and I couldn’t imagine doing Wild Spark with anyone else. We both bring different skills to the table and compliment each other… bounce off each other and we definitely found our crazy! Since launching Wild Spark at our very first event in Mt Isa back in 2019 we have held lunches in Brisbane & Mudgee and also launched a Podcast. Find out more about our past events…

At the conclusion of our luncheon we invited the ladies to continue the party up at the Red Earth Cocktail Bar. The Red Earth and Isa Hotel have been our accommodation partners for 3 years now and we can’t thank them enough for their support and generosity. It is our home away from home, board room and head office.
Heidi (above) from All Quotes Direct hasn’t missed a single Wild Spark event and has travelled all over the countryside with us. Heids, it wouldn’t be the same without you. Thanks so much for your support!!!
Thank you to all the Wild Sparks who came along to celebrate International Women’s Day, raise funds for the RFDS and meet new friends. We can’t wait to do it all over again, bigger and better in 2022!
