Recommendations: How to book your next holiday

February 2, 2016

Over the past few weeks I have taken it upon myself to find the best holiday house known to mankind for the Savvy B’s and us to holiday in together next January.  It is a sport I take very seriously and if we have any internet download by the time I am finished I will be very surprised.  No leaf will be left unturned.  We found the perfect house about 2 weeks ago but do you think we booked it…. oh no, we mucked around and then when we decided YES WE WANT IT…. it was gone.  I could have cried when it popped up and said “unavailable for those dates”.  So it was back to square one.

What the hell am I talking about I hear you ask… well we book our holidays through STAYZ.  Gee I love this website, it is unreal.  It doesn’t matter where you want to holiday – you name it there will be accommodation available.  Accept for Mt Isa… don’t try and book your next holiday to Mt Isa on Stayz because it isn’t going to happen.  Don’t suppose it is really anyone’s holiday destination of choice.  Oh and if you are like us and didn’t holiday this year then just pop over to the Stayz website and have a virtual holiday, it is such fun scrolling through the beautiful houses.

We have stayed in quite a few holiday house that we booked through Stayz.  Magnetic Island, Gold Coast, Magnetic Island again and we will be booking our 2016 holiday through them too.  We are so lucky to have the Savvy B’s to holiday with, they are just the best family to go away with, we all get along so well and there are no hassles.  I mean, I do get a little cranky when the holiday is coming to an end but Mrs Savvy B just ignores me and gets on with things.  The beauty about sharing a house between 2 families is you can find some huge mansions to holiday in.  Houses that would usually be well out of your budget become affordable when divided by two.

But don’t worry, if you want to holiday alone that is fine too.  On STAYZ you can find all sorts of accommodation… Apartment, backpacker, B&B, caravan, cottage, farm stay, hotel, house, resort, serviced apartment.  You name it you can find it.

We have been lucky enough to have great experiences with all of the houses we have stayed in, they were all so clean and absolutely gorgeous.  You can read all about our holiday at Maggie Island last year HERE.  The house was absolutely stunning, we could not fault it and don’t think we will ever match this house and location.  It was just perfect, especially the view.

I am heading down to Bathurst at the end of this month for a school reunion and a heap of the boarders and myself are booking a massive house through Stayz… the house is really expensive but divided amongst the lot of us it works out at only about $80 each – how impressive is that.  We each get a bed and I think the house has about 12 beds in total.  It is huge.  It will be just like old times back in the boarding house… circa 1996.  You can find anything on this wonderful website I am telling you now.

Now, back to the internet for me, I will not rest until I find us the best holiday house known to mankind.

Have you booked a house or other sort of accommodation through Stayz?
Did you have a good experience?
Any recommendations for us this week?

Before I met my partner he used to rent out his spare bedroom and bathroom on AirBnB.
Consequently we’ve stayed at a few of their spots and I agree that every place has been super clean and is usually I’m a great location.
The unit in Port Douglas we’re stayed for several days in December for my birthday was cute and compact and one block from the Main Street!
Do you have anywhere in mind for your next holiday? Perhaps some of us will be able to offer ideas for things to do!

We are organising a Xmas family reunion in Broome this year.. Haven’t been back since Bron and I left in 2003! We have booked a ‘mini resort’ near cable beach and it is TO DIE FOR!!!
10 adults and 5 kids works out to $180 per couple per night, I’m pretty damn sure it will be worth every penny!! Check it out!

Have used STAYZ in the past and had great experiences…now also huge fan of AirBnB after booking through that website in both Australia & USA. Stayed with the most wonderful people from the friendliest supreme court judge in Chicago to a gorgeous young farming couple in the hills of Vermont (complete with snow) ….Love it!!

Holy shit Miss Chardy, you were still at school in 1996??!! I was having babies. I feel so damn old………

Enjoy your reunion. It is fabulous to get together and relive old escapades.

A tip for Stayz, phone/email the contact about the house when it comes up as unavailable. I have found Stayz to be unavailable but then you contact the owner/agent and all is good. And sometimes they have something better that isn’t even on Stayz. Many ways to skin the cat………

We have used Stayz once and the house was in a great location for a beach wedding, and browsed also various times on my virtual holidays!!! I think Stayz is a great invention. Good luck with the holiday house hunting! 😊
