This week we had some technical difficulties and editing it was like trying to piece together a puzzle so it you make it to the end you definitely deserve a medal. Sorry in advance for the poor audio and Dan nearly deafening you and Ed being really faint at times. It was a total cluster f*%k. Also: explicit language!
Recommendations:
Ed – Apple Airpods – $249.00
Dan – Breville Breadmaker – $99.00
Dan & Ed – Levis 312 Shaping Slim – best jeans ever! – $129.00
And… Intermittent Fasting … just had to squeeze that one in, ha ha ha ha ha.
Well my friends… can you even believe it is Friday already. What a week. I took the boys to Mt Isa on Monday. It was a cold early start leaving here at 3:30am. Put them on the plane back to boarding school after 16 weeks of having them home. It was sad and it is so quiet here without them.
Of course while I was in town one of my first shops to visit was Just Jeans to see if I could hunt down some Levis 312 Shaping Slim jeans – as per Ed’s recommendation from a few weeks ago. Well I found some and I am never looking back – Ed was so right – they are like a hug for your body and I am breaking up with all of my other jeans. OMG – they are so comfy! Seriously!!! I haven’t been able to stop wearing them and they are even going to be my new work jeans! Everything! $129 Just Jeans. I am in love!
I am still also in love with Intermittent Fasting – I came for the weight loss but now it is all about the health benefits and I am in this for life. If you are keen to know more about IF (as we call it) I would suggest you start by listening to a podcast: Intermittent Fasting Stories with Gin Stephens, listen to her book – Delay Don’t Deny (or read it) I have also ordered her new book – Fast, Feast, Repeat. I started with The Intermittent Fasting Podcast with Gin Stephens and Melanie Avalon, that is also a great place to start because they answer all of the questions you might have.
There are just so many health benefits – just some of them are: help lower cholesterol, improve glucose control, reduce liver fat and improve blood pressure, increased endurance, improved sleep, reduce insulin resistance, weight loss, reduce inflammation, may help prevent Alzheimer’s Disease, improved skin, mental clarity. People with Autoimmune diseases have also noticed dramatic improvements in their health including people with Hashimotos and Chron’s disease. There are just so many benefits that people have reported in all of these podcasts I have listened to. It really is quite amazing.
I have definitely notice increased energy while fasting and have been sleeping so well. I have been eating better than ever and all of the foods, definitely not denying, just eating within a certain time period, for me that is usually from about 4:30pm – 7:30pm.
Well, have a great weekend! Are you doing anything exciting?
I love intermittent fasting. I have hashimotos and I tried everything to lose weight and couldn’t. I then tried fasting and I lost 30 kilos . It was a slow pace I was the tortoise ha ha but at 51 I’m in the best health I have ever been in. I just found your podcast last week just finished episode 2 and absolutely loving it. You are both so great.
That is so wonderful Marylou, the health benefits just amaze me. So happy to hear this from you.
How on earth do you last until 4.30pm before you eat?
Hi Carolyn, I would never have believed I could last that long without eating. The secret is the CLEAN FAST. This means nothing but black coffee, black tea or water – and I mean nothing – no chewing gum, no breath mints, no artificial sweetener in your coffee, no flavoured teas – all of these will cause a spike in your insulin levels and take you out of the fasted state. They will also make you really hungry because your body is ready for food. I just went cold turkey and switched to black coffee… loving it. Sometimes I break my fast at 2:30, sometimes it is 6pm, just depends how I am feeling.
So then you just have one meal a day ?
Basically…. I open my window around 4pm with a snack, something fresh as I find if I eat something to heavy and “carby” I need to go and have a sleep… so I might have some avocado, tomato & feta on some crackers, then I eat a full dinner, perhaps a glass of wine.
