A 40th Birthday Party

March 16, 2016

One of the main reasons for going down to NSW was my sisters 40th Birthday Party.  I was planning on just flying down solo for my school reunion for a quick trip but then Tones decided it might be a good time to have her 40th party, so in the end Mr Chardy said “why don’t you just drive and take the kids” so that is what happened.

Here is the birthday girl…

Birthday Girl

I was so glad to be able to celebrate this Birthday with Tones and all of her friends (and my new friends from the Chardy Luncheon).  Toni is a total control freak and planned the whole thing.  It was a fabulous catered affair at the Armatree Hotel in the Central West of NSW.

I’m not really sure how to explain where exactly Armatree is, but I think from Gilgandra you head as if you were going to Gulargambone and turn off before you get to Gular.   I can’t speak highly enough about this country pub – and we all know I love a country pub – I would be proud to call this place my Mother Ship but feel I would be cheating on the Camooweal Post Office Hotel.  The owners – Ash & Lib have done a brilliant job renovating this old hotel and the results are amazing, from the gorgeous timber bar to the outdoor area.  Nothing has been done half heartedly, even the loo’s are great.  And the community around this old Pub is just amazing – the families who live in this area are very luck to call it their “local”.

So thanks Tones for being a total control freak and organising your own party – it was so kind of you to think of us all.  I am pretty sure everyone had an absolute blast.

It was a child free event (winning) and most of us camped there the night.  Some bought tents, some stayed in caravans or camper trailers and other in the accommodation onsite.  I had a babysitter sorted faster than you can say party… Georgie’s (our Headstockman) Mum – Ann – came over from Dunedoo to look after 5 boys for me and my sister.  What an absolute champ.  Stayed the night and all.  Can you believe it.  The boys absolutely love her too so it was unreal, we didn’t have to even give them a second though because we knew they were in great hands.

We all thought we were 18 again and partied on until all hours.  There was live entertainment as well as Toni & I who kept stealing the microphone and belting out some tunes – people may or may not now have to visit a hearing specialist but gee we had fun.  I do love a bit of karaoke action, others probably don’t have quite the appreciation that we do though. We all enjoyed an delicious sit down meal and then rocked the night away.

I think it is safe to say that everyone had a wonderful night.  Happy Birthday Tones. xxx

Really Sue?? Do you mean the Armatree Hotel??? Such a great place, loved it. And yes… I reminisce every time I go through Bourke – best year of my life the year I had out there. Had lunch at the Bakery and then went to Carol’s to stock up on Di’s Poppy Seed Dressing, loved it.

It was a wonderful trip Mish – even the big drive was quite fun (perhaps until about the last day, but it is never fun trying to do jobs in Mt Isa and get home – and reality sets back in). It was such a great party, go get em for your 50th!!!
