Gosh it sure has been a while between blogs hasn’t it. Life just gets so busy. There is so much I need to catch you up on. Well actually there probably isn’t but, none the less I will let my fingers just tap away.
I have a little spring in my step today because I am heading off, once again, on a little trip away. And I will tell you something for nothing my friends… when you are an extrovert living an introverts life on a remote cattle station these little trips away are really the only thing that keep you sane. They recharge my batteries and make me a better person. A happier wife and a much nicer Mum.
You can tell it is nearing the end of the year because generally around this time on the station moods are a little low and we are all just a little bit over everything. Me included. I feel like my cooking is barely scraping through and the crew haven’t seen dessert for over a week. I basically just trot out the same boring meals week after week. I am going to try and find a cook for next year, so if you know of anyone who is HAPPY, clean and a good basic cooker of delicious old fashioned home cooked meals then please tell me.
Ok, so back to my little trip away. Not sure if you remember or not but I am a finalist in the Bupa Blog Awards…
It is very exciting. I am one of 5 in my category and I can’t even believe it. Don’t care if I win or lose because I am off to Melbourne for the Awards night, which is being held on Thursday, and I reckon I am going to meet some fabulous women there.
I fly down tomorrow, so I was planning on just heading off at sparrows tomorrow but the weather has been a little suspect. So I am out of here today, before I get rained in. This will be my second ever trip to Melbourne and once again it will be a very quick one – just two nights but I can’t wait. On Thursday we all head into Bupa in the City for a meet and greet luncheon with all of the other finalists. I only know a couple of people and when I say “know” I mean I have maybe met them once or twice. I am really looking forward to meeting some new, like minded, people.
Oh it will be so much fun, imagine – people who actually get what I do. Gosh I love meeting new people.
The best thing about going somewhere and not knowing anyone: you just HAVE to spread your wings and meet all the wonderful people. It is so good to step out of your comfort zone.
Anyway, I should probably stop blabbing on and hot foot it over to the kitchen. I need to throw out some old food so no one gets food poisoning while I am away and then leave some devilled sausages in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. Or as I like to call them: Cruella DeVilled Sausages! I have also left a frozen chicken curry and a lasagne so they should be set.
Catch you on the flip side my friends and get ready for a trip to Melbs with me and home via Brisbane where I will take my big boy out for the weekend before heading home.
What has been happening in your world? Please tell me everything. Sorry I have been missing in action.
I’m leavning tomorrow too! I can’t wait to see you (I won’t say meet because I’m sure we did that at PB a few years ago!) See you soon!
Can’t wait Sam… are you staying at The Prince? We sure did meet at PB! See you in Melbs.
all the best Chardy.
Thanks Bourkie
Good luck at the Awards & enjoy those cuddles with your boy.
Jacinta x
Thanks Jacinta, sure will!!! Can’t wait.
Sounds like you are going to have a ball!
Cooks job … hmmm … well I do miss station life 😛
Where did you used to live Anne?
Good luck Dan, have a wonderful time, and I really hope you win!
Thanks Jo and as DD (my Mum) would say: “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose it is how you look playing the game” ha ha ha ha – she actually used to have a pair of “scungies” she wore under her squash skirt with this written on the bum, ha ha ha ha.
Have a fabulous time! Can’t wait to follow along on all the socials and see you take out the top prize xox
Ha ha ha ha… i’m just there for the networking and wine, ha ha ha ha. Thanks xxxxx
Ha ha ha ha, you know I am just there for the networking and wine, ha ha ha. xxxxx
Best Wishes, you won’t get much time to try out all the little coffee shops in the Melbourne laneways, but if you have a chance do try some. Best wishes and good luck in the awards.
Thanks Helen, I am currently hiding out in my room because I don’t really know where to go if I leave the hotel, ha ha ha.
Oh Chards that sounds like so much fun! Good luck with the awards and even if you don’t win, you’ll have a trip to Melbourne and hopefully some new real life friends and memories to bring home with you 🙂
In Melbourne try Degraves Lane and/or Hosier Lane for graffiti walls [great for photos], coffee and food!
I only know this because we fly out of Brisbane on Friday night for the weekend to Melbourne! My beautiful Mr is taking me to see the Dior exhibition as a celebration for finishing the last subject of the MBA, just the thesis to go now 🙂 I am super excited and have already worked out where I want to go for dinner on Saturday night, I’ve just got to convince him on the food.
I am sure Brisbane will turn on the sunshine for you for the weekend too and I hope you get lots of cuddles with your baby boy 🙂
Hi Mish, it was such a fun trip. If I was in Melbs longer I definitely would have gone to the Dior Exhibition, bet it was amazing. Brisbane was great. Hope you had a wonderful weekend and that is very exciting about your MBA – not long to go. Good luck with the thesis.
