Hey, I’m Miss Chardy

Hello there! I’m Danielle Doyle – though most people know me simply as Miss Chardy.

Originally a Mudgee girl from Central West NSW, I grew up with country in my blood but a sparkle in my eye. After finishing school, I headed to Sydney to attend the June Dally-Watkins Business Finishing School, graduating with an Executive Business Diploma and a handbag full of life skills (and probably a pair of stockings I never wore again).

In 2000, I accepted a Governess role at the “back of Bourke,” teaching three little legends via School of the Air. What I thought was a one-year bush adventure turned into a life-changing path. The very next year I found myself at Alroy Downs Station in the Northern Territory. I figured I’d give it a go for 12 months before heading back to NSW. That was over 20 years ago.

Instead of heading home, I met Marty, who was working on the station next door. We married in Mudgee in 2004 and have raised three beautiful boys – Tom, Harry, and Clancy –all while living and working on remote cattle stations.

After 17 years at what I lovingly called “bum truck nowhere” (translation: very remote!) in the NT, we’ve made a move to North West QLD –just one hour north of Cloncurry in North West QLD. And let me tell you, having only 8km of dirt road to town feels like living in the suburbs! I will never take it for granted. The ease of access and the connection to community has been life-changing.

The Miss Chardy Brand

I started Miss Chardy in 2014 as a blog- an outlet to share our wild, wonderful, and slightly ridiculous life on a remote cattle station. What started as fun storytelling has grown into a community, a brand, and a business I love.

In 2018, I became the full-time station cook, which is really where my heart sings. For me, food is about love, laughter, and connection. The kitchen is the beating heart of any station, and I firmly believe that if you feed people well and make them feel welcome, it lifts the whole camp’s morale.

In 2020, I published my first cookbook:
📚 Miss Chardy’s Guide to Station Cooking
It’s sold over 10,000 copies and helped station cooks and bush bakers all over Australia.

In 2023, I released my second book:
🍞 Miss Chardy’s Bakery
This one includes a whole section on sourdough, breaking it down in simple, no-fuss Miss Chardy style. The messages I receive from readers – especially those who’ve finally conquered sourdough thanks to the book – absolutely light me up.

And now, in 2025, I’m so excited to launch Miss Chardy’s Sourdough Kit, complete with a pink gingham banneton liner and jar cap, because of course! There’s nothing beige about Miss Chardy.

Community, Connection & Wild Spark

Miss Chardy is more than just a business – it’s a community of women who lift each other up. Whether it’s on social media, in my inbox, or around the table at a CWA morning tea, I love connecting with women and helping them connect with each other.

That passion led to the Wild Spark Podcast, which I co-host with my fabulous friend Ed. We’re just two crazy ladies having a yarn about life, family, womanhood, wine, and everything in between.

So that’s me – a station cook, business owner, podcaster, mum, and passionate connector of rural women. I still love a cold Chardonnay (but lately it is probably a cheeky Rosé), I wear pink gingham with pride, and I believe there’s no such thing as too much pearl jewellery.

Welcome to my world. I’m so glad you’re here.

A glimpse into my life in the Outback

I have just released my second cookbook

Miss Chardy’s Bakery

I have developed a real love for baking bread.  If you can find it in a bakery I am there for it!  This cookbook is full of my favourite baked goods and other random recipes.  It also has a whole section on Sourdough which is my real passion at the moment.  I have finally mastered it too and it actually isn’t that hard.

In 2019 I co-founded Wild Spark Rural Women’s Network with my gorgeous friend Edwina, who lives down in Brisbane. We are passionate about connecting rural, regional & remote women, helping them be the best they can be no matter where they live, and bridging the city/country divide.

I also co-host the Wild Spark Podcast with Edwina – just two crazy ladies who love life and love a good chat!
