Child Free Trip Away

Child Free

Hi There.  How are you going?  It has been cold up here, can’t believe it, had to have both air conditioners on heat last night in our living area just so my children don’t freeze when they get out of bed wearing next to nothing.

I have been getting ready for a child free trip away.  Did you hear that – CHILD FREE.  I am beyond excited, o dear lord I am excited!  Oops, did I just say that out loud.  O god no, I am just going to miss my boys so much, not sure how I will carry on each day without their constant demands, it is going to be so hard to leave them.  Ok, that is not true.  Well I am sure I will miss them (won’t I????) and I really am a good Mum.  Don’t judge me here people.  I am a good Mum, my good friend Miss Plonk even told me so and she is the Principal of a Catholic School, so she would know wouldn’t she?  Hmmm, Miss Plonk is probably an inappropriate name for a Principal, but I suppose they do hand out wine at Church so I guess it is ok.

Right I am getting off track.  Mr Chardy and I are off for a little trip this weekend.  Heading down to BrisVegas for a Conference and perhaps a few extra days of R&R.  I am sure Mr Chardy will be beside himself with worry the whole time we are away – worry for the Station not the Children, it will probably take him a few days to settle in, then he will be right.  Then he will be itching to get back.

Brisbane

Now, before you start worrying about my gorgeous little boys, rest assured they are going to be in fabulous hands.  We are just so lucky to have such great people in our lives.  Miss G – who is our Jillaroo and was once our Governess, and has been with us for nearly 4 years – will have them sorted until her Mum arrives.  Yes you heard right – her Mum.  Can you believe it.  I did put the offer out to my Mum to come up however she has only just left.  Which got me thinking….There must be someone who would want to look after these sweet innocent little boys.  I put the offer out there to Mrs K and she jumped at the chance, she was nearly in the car and driving up here by the end of the email.  She is actually flying all the way up from Dunedoo!  What a champ, 3 flights – Dubbo-Sydney-Brisbane-Mt Isa and then a 5 hour drive and she will be here, no worries, too easy, tick!  Isn’t she just a legend.  And before you worry again that a complete stranger is looking after my children then rest assured we do know her.  Miss G’s and her family have become like family to us.

So, when I say that I will be beyond excited to head off for 8 nights child free it is all good.  The children will be safe and happy and I will be safe and happy.  I will feel guilty, so guilty……. but that will pass by the first gate…..5km’s down the dusty track.

driving

You know it isn’t even Brisbane that is getting me excited it is the little things like travelling to town, child free.  Getting on that Kangaroo Jet with just our luggage, no children.  Sitting on the jet, reading a book, sipping on wine, watching a show on those fancy iPad things they now have.  Do you think perhaps I will suffer from Over Expectations on this trip.  I hope I haven’t revved myself up too much.

Oh and guess what, I think we are even going to have a night on the town this weekend.  Right, so it is just dinner, but it is dinner with Miss Plonk, Mrs Sav (who are going to be in Vegas too!!!!!) and good old Mr Chardy, who loves hanging out with the girls…..surely!!!  Yes – a night out.  Who was I to say no to that one, we are going to be footloose and fancy free, the world is our oyster!  Lock it in Eddie!

Do you go away often without the children?  We don’t do it very often but I think it is healthy.  Up here we are with the little darlings 24/7.  There is no escape, there is no day care, no grandparents….. nothing.  It is us.  All. The. Time.  So I think we deserve a little break….do you think I have justified it enough?

So look out Brisbane Town, we are coming down on the Kangaroo Jet.  I think I need a brown paper bag to blow into before I hyperventilate…..too excited, need to go and have a little lie down I think.

I will be updating you on my little trip, stay tuned to Facebook and Instagram – @misschardy8. Oh and thanks so much for listening to me blabber on.  Have a great day.

I wouldn’t leave the first two children even with my husband, but after the third I was ready to go anywhere. It is good for them to be with other adults and definitely good for you. Have a wonderful time in Brisbane, there are fabulous eateries everywhere.

I was a bit the same Andrea. We used to take the boys with us, until number 3 came…..now we just look forward to the odd trip away without them. I say as my 3 year old is climbing all over me and whinging at the same time. Give me strength.

I can’t promise my “Wits will always be about” but I will try very hard. Child free can be very very dangerous!

God Kez, a whole month in hotel rooms, you probably deserve a medal after that, or perhaps just a stiff drink.

You totally deserve a break! How bloody exciting!!! We recently spent a month in hotel rooms with the Little Mister (sometimes he even shared our bed – something he’s never done before) and it had me fantasising about what it used to be like when it was just Mr Unprepared and I enjoying the luxury of a hotel!! I hope you have a fantastic time and do all the things you can’t do with kids around!!! xx

I’ve lived in Viva Bris Vegas for 13 weeks now & still haven’t had a night out on the town … however I do have a good excuse … I’ve just today finished two years of study … so I think a night on the town is in order!

Hi Mish, I love Brisbane, it is a wonderful City. We had the best week down there in August. How exciting that you have finished your study, that definitely deserves a night out on the town.
