As I type this I sit here singing along to “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” from the Home Alone 1 & 2 album. I mean seriously, is there a better song? Maybe Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree from the same album. This is sure to get you in the Christmas Spirit!!!
As Ed & I were recording our Wild Spark podcast yesterday Ed had a great idea – to create a Wild Spark Christmas menu. A go to guide for all things Christmas. Great idea Edna!!!

Possibly our worst episode yet – sorry if your ears are bleeding! The best way to listen to our podcast is through Apple Podcasts if you have an iPhone or Spotify (podcasts are FREE).
I have totally embraced Christmas this year. I feel like I have finally grown up (has only taken nearly 42 years)… or it could just be the fact that I don’t have toddlers to chase after and feed every 2 minutes, my kids are definitely at an age where they can fend for themselves leaving me free to decorate, bake and order myself a Christmas themed dress online.
We have put together a menu for Christmas Day – this should cover all bases for you to pick and choose from as you like! Here it is…
And don’t worry we haven’t forgotten the Christmas Cheer…
These are all tried and tested recipes. We have Kevvie’s baked ham every year – it really is the best, so easy too! We don’t actually put the cloves and glace cherries on. I think we usually make extra topping mixture, it is great served on the side to drizzle over the sliced ham. Oh my mouth is watering. As a kid growing up DD (my Mum) used to always trot out a baked turkey breast. It is always the Ingham’s frozen turkey breast…
So easy and so yummy, great for leftovers the next day too and it doesn’t dry out. You can thank DD later.
You can find so many of these recipes in my cookbook – it would also make a great gift and you can purchase it online right here…
If you don’t have a copy, don’t worry – here are the recipes. This is our Christmas gift to you. ‘Tis the season for giving and we love to share!!!
For the chocolate log you could put a bit of a Christmas spin on it and turn it into a wreath – make it round and decorate with red and green M&M’s plus maltesers, spearmint leaves and grated chocolate! Perfect!!!
This layered Mexican dip is like a meal in itself, so so so yummy. You will be loved by ALL! Run don’t walk.
Now with the Christmas Ham please be sure not to cut all the way through he ham FART … just like the recipe tells you!!! ha ha ha ha
Mum used to always trot out this retro peach dish if she was ever putting on a brunch, I always thought they were so fancy. And what about her retro prawn cocktail. DD whips this up every year for Christmas breakfast. I don’t have the recipe but for the sauce she uses cream, cocktail seafood sauce and a few splashes of tobasco. I think that is it. So yummy! Rexy always gets the job of peeling and de-veining the prawns.
If you really want to impress your guests then I suggest some fresh home baked bread… is there anything better than homemade bread. This bread twist is so easy yet looks like it has a level of difficulty of 9/10. You can find the recipe and all the instructions HERE. Trust me you will not be sorry, I know I keep saying that but these are all winning dishes.
You can add anything to the inside of this bread before you roll it up. The other day I made it with cheese and bacon and served it with the Cobb loaf dip – it was SO GOOD! You just pull it apart, no need to cut it up.
I think I might have to trot out a little cheeky cup of coffee… oops I mean Espresso Martini on Christmas morning… surely it is the right thing to do?! Reminds me of when we had Christmas with my family last year at Noooooooooooooooosa and my sister and I escaped for a lovely lunch by the beach…

This is our favourite bubbly and it is only around $19 a bottle but you can’t get it everywhere. You can get it from First Choice Liquor or Liquorland. I buy it online from Vintage Cellars. Ed introduced me to this bubbly when I first met her and I have never looked back. I prefer it over the likes of Moet & Veuve and it is just so well priced. Unfortunately we can’t buy it anywhere in Mt Isa so Vintage Cellars is definitely our friend.
It is a French sparking from Burgundy, France. let us know what you think – you will never drink the more expensive bubbly again, I swear to god.
Because I am feeling so festive I have decided to start a new tradition in our family. I have bought all of us some Christmas PJ’s. I have washed and wrapped them and popped them under the tree. We will open them on Christmas Eve, have a yummy dinner, pop on our pj’s and watch a Christmas Movie together. I am thinking along the lines of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, Home Alone 2 or The Santa Clause. Have you got any other suggestions… maybe a movie we haven’t seen??
I bought the PJ’s from Best & Less… wanted to get us all matching sets but couldn’t find any to match that would fit Tom and Harry so they have Christmas boxers and a Christmas tee.
Now it is over to you. Let’s spread the Christmas love. Share your favourite go to recipe with us. What are your Christmas traditions?
Miss Chardy, I’m inspired! I was/am feeling a little ho-hum about Christmas this year due to the absolute shitshow 2020 has been and my first born won’t be with me for the first time ever :(. However reading your menu and cocktail suggestions and Christmas pyjama plans, maybe I can get a bit of spirit on.
Have a great festive season and thank you for the bright spot of Wild Spark podcasts 🙂
Oh Judy, come on, you’ve totally got this. Pop some Christmas Carols on and get in the Christmas spirit, you will love it. I don’t know what has come over me this year but I am totally on board. We had a bit of a rough trot after loosing loved ones in 2015 and 2016 but seem to be finding happiness again which is such a great feeling. xxx
