Last week I had the best couple of days in town. I headed in on Wednesday evening for the WiRE (Women in Rural Regional & Remote Enterprises) Business Women’s Bootcamp in Mt Isa. It was a two day affair and I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful it was.
It is no secret that I love anything to do with personal development, conferences and just generally getting together with likeminded women and making new friends! It is what keeps me sane! Turns out I am very bad at taking pics when I am with real life people, so sorry about that.
Last year I took part in a 12 week WiRE Hub Program – you can read all about it HERE. It is the reason Wild Spark is now a reality! The Business Bootcamp I just took part in was an intensive version of that program. The 2 day workshop was offered free to anyone who has a business, has an idea and wants to make that business a reality or wanted to work on one big rock within that business. It was facilitated by two fabulous women – Retha Weisner & Tara Jacobsen – their knowledge, experience and qualifications blow my mind and I walked away feeling inspired and motivated.
I can’t believe it was free. I helped Retha spread the word about the bootcamp but trying to get participants was almost like trying to get blood out of a stone. Did I mention it was free. There were only 30 places on offer and I thought they would be snapped up faster than you can say “new friends’. In the end I think we had around 23 ladies in attendance. Those 23 women made a very good choice. There were ladies from town and also stations out of town. 2 ladies even travelled up from Tambo! Louise & Stacey had heard about it through Miss Chardy and I am so glad they did!
All of the women in the room were amazing and I walked out of that day knowing so many new people in town. I even went home with one of them for dinner that night – Kate! Everyone was leaving me and I was staying in town the night. I was so sad they were all going so Kate suggested I go to her place for dinner. Now lets just remember I have never met Kate before but I was so there Jackie O.
I have been up in these parts for near on 19 years and I only know a couple of women in town so it was fabulous to make a new friend. When you say yes amazing things happen and the people you meet will take you places you would never imagine. So I said yes to Kate. Her friend Kim who lives around the corner is a Miss Chardy reader so she came around too. It was such fun. I met Kates husband and family and had the most delicious dinner with them all and a few cheeky Chardy’s too, their hospitality was amazing! Gosh it was fun! I am so glad I said yes! Thanks so much for having me Kate & Matt!
Thanks to all of the inspirational women I met last week, i’m looking forward to watching your progress! You are all amazing!!!
So I guess you get the gist – I had such a great time and learned lots. Mixing with women like that really lifts me up and recharges my batteries. Now it is time to unpack, repack, do a spot of cooking & mowing and head off again tomorrow for a school week in town – Home Tutor Seminar, Activity Days for Clancy and then Sports Day on Friday! Yay!
If you would like more info on what WiRE has to offer you can find out all about it HERE. Trust me – you won’t be sorry!
Ok now off to sort out a smashed windscreen on the back of my car – didn’t move it when I mowed yesterday and this is what I get, that will teach me. It’s going to be a fun trip to town isn’t it!!!!
