Melbourne Cup 2015

November 6, 2015

What did you get up to for Melbourne Cup Day?  This is one of our favourite days of the year here at Chardy HQ.  It is a mixture of cup day and our end of year party.  The crew work through, the weekend before, getting on top of everything so we can have Tuesday and Wednesday off.  Of course the Savvy B crew come over from next door and we all partied on together.Melb Cup 3

In true Savvy B style they arrived in cars, utes and a chopper…

It was a brilliant day spent poolside on our verandah.  Thank goodness for that pool because it was a scorcher.  After lunch the mascara was removed and the fancy dresses were replaced with cozzies, it was far to hot to sit pretty on the deck.

The next day just happened to be Mrs Savvy B’s 40th Birthday so we had to celebrate with a Japanese Slipper poolside – it was the right thing to do.  Bec made these beautiful cupcakes and boy were they tasty!

Thanks for a great couple of days guys, it was such fun.

Now tell me – how was your day?
Did you do something special?
Were you at Flemington?

How do you all manage to look so spectacular? I’m a wet, shiny mess in the heat. Looks like a fun day! I completely forgot about the Melbourne Cup this year and worked my way through it. It’s a glamorous life I lead!

Ha ha ha, worked through – who are you? ha ha ha. It was a fun day, I made sure I wore something lovely and cool, but it was pretty bloody hot. The pool was a god send.

Looks like lots of fun. How clever is Bec to make those beautiful cupcakes??
We watched the Cup in the shed with the workers, and I pretended not to cry when the winning jockey and her brother had a cuddle. 🙂

Our little town’s hospital auxiliary runs the Melbourne Cup lunch every year in the RSL as a fundraiser, and I take my students down to wait on the tables, serve food, and generally help out. This year, as every other year, I didn’t see the race. I was busy corralling 16 year olds to get the washing up finished. I didn’t even find out who won till the next day. I’m not much into it anyway.

Oh how wonderful Jo!!!! You legend. I’m more interested in dressing up and socialising than watching the race, ha ha ha.

What a fun couple of days Miss Chardy! It’s Blogger Central here at our house at the moment. Mrs Woog, Hair Romance and Smaggle … Mr SY has been walking around with earplugs in!

You look to have had a fabulous day, convenient that you could celebrate a significant birthday as well. We didn’t make it to The Cup, but NEXT YEAR, we will be there in spades. The outfit planning has already started.

My niece however jagged tickets (to the Members thank you very much) from a friend so we had a last minute outfit dash. I made her a skirt which is actually Zoe’s (my daughter) but Whitney got to wear it first. Our talented cousin in Winton had the perfect head piece (she makes fabulous headwear, check out Melissa-Gaye Designs on FB and instagram) which she posted down and Whitney found the perfect shoes and bag on sale in David Jones. Phew. Whitney looked stunning, didn’t make it through FOTF but there was a beautiful pic on the msn website.

Those of us who weren’t at The Cup were at our house, frocked up, hatted up, drinking buckets of champagne (which I felt every drop of on Wednesday morning at my PT session!) having an excellent lunch and critiquing the FOTF/celebrity frocks. Pretty much what happens in most backyards on the day.

Oh I managed to do nothing for the Melbourne Cup and to even miss watching the race, for the first time ever I believe. You all scrubbed up well. Those cupcakes are gorgeous, how talented Bec is.

Those cupcakes were amazing. Too funny that you didn’t even watch the race.
