I honestly can’t believe that A. it is Friday already – gotta love that – and that means it is Fakeaway Friday with Pad Thai and Chicken Penang – yippeeeeeeeeeeee – I can’t wait for dinner. And B. we are up to episode 12 of the podcast – that means we have been doing it for about 12 weeks – where has the time gone? Seriously!
Oh and you know what else Friday means? Another episode of The Bold Type drops tonight on Netflix – so we all know what I will be doing tonight: Fakeaway, Netflix & wine! God I need to get a life, don’t I!!!!
Very excited to also say that my boys will be heading back to boarding school next term, they have struggled doing their schooling from home and the internet has been up to shit making it really hard for them. Thank god we are on holidays.
On the Podcast this week we hear about the time Dan ended up in hospital down in Sydney with a broken neck after a car accident. Spoiler alert – it has a happy ending. This happened on 3rd June 2000, I was 21 years old.
Ok, I found some photos in an actual photo album because it was the year 2000 – sorry some of them are a little confronting but here they are – me in RPA hospital, Sydney, in traction – 16kg hanging from my head. I was like this for 2 weeks. Then I had to have an operation where they took bone from my hip and fused C4 & C5. After the operation I was not a very happy chappy.
There is the 16kgs and that long plait…
Look at my long plait – my hair was stained an orange colour from the Warrego River water we used to shower in out at Bourke where I was a Governess. Look at that grease from 2 weeks of no washing + baby oil. I could smell my hair while I was lying in traction, it was so disgusting. After Toni chopped it off the nurses came in and washed it in a bucket at the end of my bed – they were such legends. Gosh it felt good to have clean hair again.
I had been growing my hair for about 6 years. After lying on it, in traction, for 2 weeks it ended up being one bit knot and my sister had to slather baby oil in it and try and comb out the knots, in the end she had to chop it off, she saved what she could – thanks Tones. Obviously there isn’t a photo of the clean hair! Don’t you just love my mens pj’s! They were super comfy though. After my operation they must have just ripped the sticky monitors (or something) from my forehead because it left me with some great scabs, you can just see them in this pic.
This is my wound after the operation and also after the second operation (the debribment) check out the undercut (the top inch or so of the wound is all shaved hair – hence the undercut! Sorry this pic is a bit gross but we are keeping it real here people.
So you can hear all about that on the Podcast. We also have our usual chit chat, snorting and laughter with a few quotes thrown in for good measure.
