ProBlogger 2014 {PBEVENT}

August 21, 2014

I did the craziest thing back in March.  I bought tickets to the ProBlogger event on the Gold Coast before I had even started my blog.   I acted on impulse.  I was so shocked that I actually managed to get a ticket.  The first round of tickets sold out in one day, I somehow managed to snag a ticket in the second round when they released about 100 more tickets.  It was meant to be….surely!  Bugger it I thought, so I booked and paid for my ticket.

girls day out

This is me with all of my Virtual Friends!

So next week I am off to the Gold Coast for ProBlogger 2014 with about 500 other bloggers.  As Faux Fuchsia would say “All the big names will be there”.   Many of the bloggers I stalk follow will be there.  Baby-Mac.  Redcliffe Style.  Sonia Styling. Kirsten & Co. Mrs Woog & Styling You.  Just to name a few.  Gee, after looking at that list it appears I seem to need some serious help in the “Style” department!

Now I don’t actually know a single sole going, well not in person anyway, some of them are “virtual” acquaintances but that is about it.  So I am flying completely solo.  Do you think I will be lonely?  It will be 4 nights to myself, I am sure to be ok.

I am spending the first night in Brisbane.  I will fly from Mt Isa and spend the night in a lovely hotel.  I was going to book into the Stamford again but didn’t think I could justify $465 for one night all by myself.   So I booked this hotel on Wotif and opted to continue with my fly by the seat of my pants ways and clicked on the Mystery Hotel.  Aren’t I wild!  It was $179 so bugger it, I just went with it.  Turns out it is the Novotel in the City, and seems to be close to where my dentist is and also the train station, which I will be needing on Thursday to get to the Gold Coast.   Looks like quite a nice hotel actually, I think I will settle in quite well for the night.  It has everything I need: a bar, a restaurant, room service, mini bar!

People Watching

I guess it will be back to the Mall then for me!

At the Gold Coast I will be staying at the QT.  I can’t wait.  I have heard so much about this hotel from Baby-Mac’s posts and hear the breakfast buffet is second to none.  The conference is also at the QT so it will be perfect.

I have been busy putting together my clothes menu for the conference….not to be taken lightly let me tell you (please stop laughing, yes am really doing this).  I don’t want to look like some sort of country hick from bum f*#k nowhere.  (I kid you not, someone actually told me that is where I lived when I was at the Breakfast Creek Hotel one night and I told them where we were from, ha ha ha.  I took quite a liking to that saying)

Thanks to Redcliffe Style for her great tips for PBEvent 2014.  Turns out I am not the only one organizing my outfits!  If you haven’t already read the RedCliffe Style Blog Posts about PBEvents you can find out about clothes here and what to take here.  She has so many other fantastic blog posts about all sorts of things.  Check it out, very helpful and informative!

Redcliffe Style

So yet again I am fortunate to be having 4 nights away child free.  This time Mr Chardy will be chief babysitter.  hmmmmmm.  I am sure he will be all over it.

Are you going to be there?  Don’t be shy.  I will be the one sitting at the bar sipping on a Chardy soaking up my freedom.  I will probably also be craving some conversation by then.   So if you see a country hick faking some sort of attempt at style, don’t be scared just say hi.  Can’t wait to meet some of you.  Were are you staying?

Bring it on.  I will try to blog as I go….will do my best anyway.  I hope you can come along with me on a virtual holiday!

And I forgot to add, planning and packing is easy with those excellent packing bag thingos. The only hiccup I had was when I changed my mind what day I was going to wear an outfit. My OCD didn’t cope well with pulling out Friday’s bag to wear on Tuesday………

Yes, I may have to pull out the IN YOUR BAG’s. I am the same though and have been changing my mind lately. So might just fly by the seat of my pants.

Sounds perfect for you Dan, very exciting. It’s wonderful how the internet has opened up opportunities for women in remote locations, girls from the bush can do anything !

I’m sure you are going to fit in beautifully Dan! I’m staying at QT too. I stayed there last year with Alex and we loved it – especially the buffet. Oh.My.Goodness. I’ll find you at the bar for a white too – I’m a SavBlanc girl myself. (Particularly if it’s from NZ) I know – so commonplace, but when you find something you like… Good on you for doing the mystery hotel on Wotif. We always want to but then chicken out! I’m so looking forward to ProBlogger, only 5 sleeps to go! Hopefully I will shake this horrid flu by then and the rest of the family won’t be sick, then I will feel guilty about leaving them behind.

I can’t wait. I am getting very nervous – I have so much to do and only 2 days to do it…..best get my skates on. I hope you feel better and the children don’t get sick. Don’t worry the guilt will pass after about 1/2 an hour, ha ha ha! Lets do wine! I am the last of the chardy drinkers aren’t I!

Enjoy the conference. I won’t be there despite how close it is and am now regretting not organising tickets. Stayed at Stamford plaza with my husband Friday night and thought of you!

This is my first Problogger too, so excited, and have just about finished packing. Sipping a nice Sav Blanc and mucking around on Facebook instead of packing, but I don’t have far to travel being a Brissie girl. xx N

Oh Nikki, definitely not far, I will be leaving home at 4:30 tomorrow, a 5 hour drive and then a 2.5 hour flight and I will be in Brisbane at 2:30 I think, not bad really. I should get to bed. Sav Blanc is way more important than packing. I have been sipping on a Chardy rather than sorting things out. Happy travels!!!
