School Holidays

October 3, 2016

How is your long weekend going?  Has daylight savings started in your part of Oz?  Do you love it or hate it?

Weather has been a little crazy here.  Had a fair bit of rain last night but lets chat about the School Holidays.

The boys have been pretty good I suppose these holidays, but then again they were away for a good 6 days.  But I tell you what, as soon as they arrived home there was moaning and groaning and all sorts of fighting.   Oh the fighting, isn’t it just ever so delightful.  Now because I don’t teach my own children I am usually very excited to see the end of the holidays arrive.  It would be a whole other story if I were teaching them though, so I am thinking of all the Mum’s out there whose school holidays are nearly over.

But don’t worry guys, I might be right there with you.  Our Governess is stuck down on the bitumen and after our rain last night I am not sure when she will be able to get in, so it looks like my boys worst nightmare may well be answered tomorrow and I will be the teacher…. I guess they can just call me Miss Chardy, rather than Mum.   I can guarantee you one thing… there will be tears.  Usually my tears.

The past few days there has been a lot of game playing – mainly trouble.  But things have been getting a little out of control, the boys got a little over excited the other day and went a little crazy… I blame it on school holidays.  But this is where we are at people #lifewithboys

Not pretty my friends, not pretty.  Life with boys, there is head popping and butt popping and all sorts of shenanigans. In the end I had to tell them I would only play if they popped using their hands.  It was pretty funny though.  It is a wonder they don’t have eggs on their heads from all that popping.

I am really competitive when it comes to games, there is no easing up and letting the kids win.  No way.  I get that excited when I win and totally rub it in.  Then when I lose I make them keep playing until I redeem myself.  Clancy is actually very good at Trouble, that kid has all the luck when it comes to popping a 6.  He got about seven 6’s in a row yesterday.

This is also where we are at on the mess front, thankfully it has all been contained in the bedrooms, the rest of the house is pretty good…

We would be lost without this lego.  The boys, well Harry and Clancy,  can play all day long with this stuff and the creations are quite amazing.

So tell me, where are you at these holidays?

Did you go away?
Kids driving you batty?
Fighting?
Or sad that holidays are over because you have to teach your own kids?

I feel like the school holidays are officially starting for me today as we’re back to routine after a lovely holiday to Kalbarri, WA. It was so much fun and the best part is that with so many adults around to cover the supervision, I hardly saw the Little Mister (only enough to share fun holiday moments and appreciate him but not enough that I went crazy)! Now Mr Unprepared is back to work and I am in this (mostly) alone again but very thankful that I do not have to make school lunches for a bit longer!

I’m hearing you on the fighting front! Although we are only half way through our holidays the kids have just begun to recover after all being sick last week! The bickering, nagging and fighting about absolutely nothing has all started again…….😩 If I felt up to it I would be drinking what’s left in my cool room just to block it out haha
I don’t want to go back into the school room at all but I am happy that we are near the end of another school year haha yes my count down has begun 👏🏼🍾
Just remember Miss Chards it’s only until your govie can get back lol you’ll nail it I’m sure.
look forward to hearing how you go with school 😉

Oh don’t get too excited about hearing how I go with school… they might just do school on the weekend instead… much better plan, ha ha ha. I am hearing you about the whole “fighting over nothing at all” god it does my head in. The count down is on for you Sal – not long to go, you are nearly done in that school room for 2016!!!!

    Hi Chardy,
Have two boys here arguing about who had the best time hanging out with your crew! Pity the holiday has to end.

I am also very competitive with our boys, although we don’t do board games anymore since I made our 7 year old (at the time), pay up in Monopoly causing him to burst into tears of bankruptcy and hubby accusing me of being too hard on him – I had years of my older brother always cheating in Monopoly which may have affected me psychologically – hope the Governess is not stuck for too long – our kid’s teachers also get stuck (usually with visa issues) but thank god I don’t have to teach them – same same but different 😉

Chards, I have a saying you will like …… They whine, so I wine. Its only fair. A lot of people laugh at this and I guess they think we we would be joking. Chards I think you could use this.
