Last week the children and I loaded the car up and headed to town for Home Tutor Seminar and Sports Day. This meant a week in town. It was all very exciting especially because the children have not been to town since we returned from holidays back in January! We were all looking forward to seeing our friends. A bunch of us stay at the same caravan park which means the kids can run wild and us parents can enjoy a cheeky little wine together. A town trip also means lots of jobs and appointments: dentist, hair cut, beauty and all the station jobs that need doing. Time seems to disappear.
On the Friday the children had their annual sports carnival. Of course they insisted they needed new joggers and weren’t satisfied with the K-Mart $15 type so it meant me dishing out a heap of money on “real” joggers that practically glow in the dark only to discover they didn’t actually wear them on Sports Day. Tom said he could run better with no shoes on – great, so glad he talked me into those $100 shoes!!!! Luckily Harry wore his. You can tell it is a carnival full of bush kids because none of them have shoes on.
You know how I am always telling you how great my friends are, well this week is another example of just how fantastic they really are. One of my friends loaned me her Governess for the week, who just also happened to be my old Govie from the past 2 years, so the children and I were so excited to catch up with Miss B for the week and I was so grateful to Mrs Gumnut Designz for the loan! Now because I don’t have a Governess at the moment and lord knows it may be dangerous for me to teach my own children, my friendly neighbour – Mrs Sav – took Harry home with her this week so he could do school with her son and Home Tutor. Both of our big boys have gone off on School Camp this week so that just leaves me with an only child – Clancy – for the week. Gee my friends are great!!!
I tell you – it was very lucky that I only had one child to take home because the car was completely loaded up. So after a wonderful and busy week in town it was time to say goodbye to our friends and start the long trip home. I wonder how Tom is going, his first time away from home. He was pretty nervous, but so were all the other children. I am sure they have forgotten about us and are having a blast.
Thanks for a great week in town to all of my fabulous friends!
PS: It turns out I am not much of a blogger when there are real people to mix with, I really need to pick up my act and start remembering to take some photos! It can only get better from here folks.
Oh what FUN! Laughing about the joggers and that little Clancy packed in amongst all of the shopping!
