Good news… I think I can see a glimmer of light at the end of the dark cooking tunnel. I can almost feel it. You know what happened yesterday…. an angel arrived. Her name is Julie and she is our new cook! Yes, that’s right folks…. my cooking days are over for now. Lets hope and pray that she loves it here and is a wonderful cook.
So hopefully I will be able to get back into my early morning blogging routine. Things have been a bit hit and miss here lately and it has had to be, for my sanity.
What have we been up to lately? We had a busy weekend. On Friday night Miss Gabby, our wonderful Governess, together with the children, put on a fabulous Trivia Night. It was a bit of a belated “Territory Day” celebration. Miss Gabby is the hostess with the mostess and knows how to put on an event. She totally rocked it and put on a great night. There were even jelly shots.
It appears that DD is settling in quite well to station life. She even had a Japanese Slipper as well as 2 jelly shots and a glass of wine, I am surprised she wasn’t on the floor. I have even heard her swear and call herself the “Dish Bitch”. Not sure where I would have been these past 2 weeks without her and Rexy. They have helped no end. And yes, Mum has been the best Dish Bitch ever. Her main jobs over the past 2 weeks have been: washing up, washing up and more washing up as well as making endless jugs of powdered milk and filling the urn. And Rexy has been a brilliant babysitter, Clancy has been loving life sick as his new shadow. Oh and Rexy has also cut a fine figure on the ride on mower. I tell you, they have certainly earned their keep.
Here is Miss Gabby – Quiz Master – with her jelly shots. Thanks so much for a great night Gabs.
On Sunday it was Miss Gabby’s birthday. She requested crumbed steak and pavlova, so who was I to argue. We trotted out enough crumbed steak to feed 2 army’s and a yummy pav.
So, yes, we are still alive up here and hope to be around these parts a bit more now. I feel happier already. It is Mr Chardy’s birthday today so we are having steak and chips at Rec Club and I have just whipped up a chocolate log as his birthday cake.
Happy Wednesday to you all, and thanks for being patient with this crazy lady. xx
Sounds like all is good for you, glad you have such wonderful people around you. I look forward to more blogging.
Happy Birthday Mr C. Xo
Thanks Sal xxxx
Woohoo, you won’t know what to do with yourself without all the cooking. I hope it works out. Your belated Territory Day looks like fun and I think I’ll have to visit for my birthday if that is what you get.
Wooooo hooo to not cooking is all I can say. It is so lovely to be home again, feeding my kids properly.
Sorry, what did you say? I’m still drooling over the pav photo haha xx
Oh it was so yummy Kez!
What a fab time you’ve had with celebrations & friends to help you drink those slippers, oh oops, I mean celebrate with you and kindly be the 2-legged dishwashers to boot. What an asset ol’ Gabs is, she’s fab!! Tell u what, crumbed steaks are something i haven’t cooked for the family for ages, i will have to do them again. You must feel as if u have the world lifted off your shoulders now with the new cook, although i think you did a great job from sounds of it while it lasted! Back to work for me, and back to that good old school routine i just love so so much!! No really, i do love the term & how exhaustion for everyone slowly creeps in over weeks, til the last week when everyone is in lala land haha!
Hello there, sorry it has taken me so long to reply. It was so great having help in the kitchen and yes, I now feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Back to it for you, you guys in towns and cities sure do have such busy days, I don’t know how you do it. Hope the term goes well for you.
Lovely to get all the latest news, but super stoked you’re no longer cooking. I bet the boys are just loving all the visitors, and you too I’m sure! x
The boys sure are loving having the grandparents here. And yes, I am loving it too. So great to be able to have some time with them now too.
Hi To everyone at Mittiebah, we miss you!! Happy Birthday to Miss Gabby, great Pav. Looked amazing. Loved all your photos Danni, great to recognise everyone.
So happy to hear your new cook, Julie, has arrived, hope all works out and she is amazing, as I’m sure she is. Give yourself a big pat on the back and an extra “Chardy” or too , Dan, you have done an amazing job.
We are in WA now. Joan n Stu
Oh Joanie, so great to hear from you, we miss you!!! Hope you are having a great time, safe travels. How is that tent going? x
wow, the pav looks amazing! I can never get that kind of rise…
Oh Cate, I have no idea really how to cook Pav, but that particular one has 2 ingredients…. egg whites and sugar! That is it. Too easy. I do beat it for a loooooong time and add the sugar verrrrrry slowly a tiny bit at a time.
