The WiRE Hub – Women in Rural Remote and Regional Enterprises

October 2, 2018

I would like to share something with you.  I know so many of my rural & remote friends have recent “start ups” or online businesses and I think this might be really helpful for you.

You see back in August I did a last minute application to the WiRE Spring Hub program.  WiRE of course stands for Women in Rural Regional & Remote Enterprises.  It is a 12 week program to help you achieve one big rock within your business.

Remember the last hike I helped Mrs Savvy B with?  You can read about it HERE.  Well it was Megan – one of the women on that hike – that suggested I apply for this program.  I was telling her about my Build Your Brand Event idea and she was just so helpful.  Full of knowledge and willing to help.  Isn’t it amazing what can come from a simple chat or opening up about your fears and ideas.  I was telling Megan what I wanted to do and that I just had no idea about funding and grants and really needed some money to make this event a success.

When I got home from the hike Megan sent me a link to this program.  Of course I didn’t click through straight away, but did keep thinking about it, I was really busy (aren’t we all) and just put it in the too hard basket.  Then, while we were at Mini School with time to burn, I decided it was time to check it out.  Turns out the cut off date for applications was the very next day so I quickly submitted mine and thought that would be the end of it.  I was so excited when the email came through telling me I was going to be part of this fabulous initiative of like minded women.

Basically it is a 12 week online program that keeps you motivated and accountable to achieve one “big rock” within your venture.  I thought this might help keep me on track to apply for grants but I am 3 weeks in and it is so much more!

We meet online for 1.5 hours each Friday morning.  We can all see each other, it is just like being in the same room.  They use Zoom which is so cool.  I know I am so late the the party on most things and perhaps you already know about this tool but it is just unreal.  So easy.  You just join the meeting and bam – you can see everyone, chat away and feel like you are really a part of something.

All the women in the program have very different ventures.  They are from all over the place QLD, NSW and me in the NT.

It is so nice to be able to share my ideas with these wonderful women and get their advice.  It is such a supportive and encouraging little group and I am just so happy I submitted that last minute application.

Now before I bang on too much I would like to share something else that has come out of this program.  Retha asked me if a WiRE Bootcamp would be beneficial to the women of North West Queensland and beyond.  She has funding to hold a 2 day program and would like to do it in Mt Isa.  I was so there Jackie O.   Hell yes I think it would go down a treat Retha!  After the response I got from the post asking you all if you would be interested in attending my Build Your Brand event I thought this would be something we could do for sure.

It is a 2 day intense bootcamp.  Look instead of me banging on and fumbling my way through exactly what it involves, here is a snippet from their website.  This is from a previous bootcamp held this year but will give you an idea of what it is all about….

Does this sound like something you might be interested in?  Well that is great because this Bootcamp is going to be held in Mt Isa around the first week in November – probably the 3rd & 4th.  Spaces are limited to 30 people and the total cost for the entire weekend is only $90!!!  Ninety bucks – what a bargain.

I told Retha I would gather the troops and hunt down 30 people for the bootcamp.  Are you in?  Maybe you are sitting there thinking “but I haven’t even started my business yet – it is just an idea” …. PERFECT you definitely need this.  If you want to be a part of a supportive and encouraging group of women then get on board.

If you are interested in attending this even then please email me at: hello@misschardy.com

Tickets are limited to 30.  I will be sure to let you know when they are released and how you go about grabbing one.

So what do you think?  I really do feel motivated being part of this WiRE Hub, and we have only met online 3 times.   I can’t wait for the Bootcamp.

Please share this with anyone you think may be interested, lets get rural and remote Australia motivated!

Get it done Miss Chardy !!!! don’t be putting off stuff just hook in and sort that stuff out. Plus having a weekend in Isa on the 3 & 4th of Nov gives you time to shop for goodies for the 6th of Nov if you know what I mean. Remember your the bell of the ball and if someone gets in your road ….. crush them. Have a great time.
