Last week the Govie, children and I packed up the car and headed into town for 2 nights. We went in for a 1 Day School of the Air Group day. Out here a 1 day event actually turns into a 3 day town trip, 1 day to drive to town, 1 day in town and 1 day to drive home.
We were all pretty excited. You see I had not been to town for 2 months. Do you hear me people – TWO MONTHS!!!!!! It crept up on me. It is no wonder I was turning into a bitter and twisted nutcase. This little extrovert needed a recharge. So off we went, the group day was a perfect excuse.
First stop in town was the car wash to give my filthy dirty car some TLC. It feels like such a waste of time washing your car when you travel on so much dirt road, but I thought I should do the right thing, at least it was clean for one whole day. The first gate on the way home and …. boom – bull dust everywhere, it was like a bomb had gone off around us, that was the end of my nice clean car. Back to square one.
Second stop was K-Mart. The boys kept bugging me to take them to K-Mart. K-Mart is their idea of heaven, they think it is the best shop on earth and the only place they ever want to go. So I gave in and told them “Ok, but we are JUST LOOKING, do you understand, we are “JUST LOOKING, NOT BUYING”!!! Ha, famous last words.
We all walked into K-Mart and I think I was just as excited as the children, because unbeknownst to us K-Mart had undergone a complete transformation and had finally joined 2014! It was amazing, we were that excited it wasn’t funny. They had completely re-organised the shop and it all looked so new and sorted. I was gobsmacked. And then I realized that I really needed to get out more, this was really sad – I was excited about a K-Mart transformation, someone get me a life. So after a little while of “Just Looking” we made our way to the self serve check out where each child insisted on scanning something and then I forked out over $100 on a heap of crap. So much for “just looking”! I am such a push over. We came out with books, a helicopter and some SkyLanders – what ever the hell they are.
So there you have it people. The most exciting thing that happened to me last week was our trip to the local boutique – K-Mart – and of course the home delivered Chinese that I was dreaming about the whole 5 hours into town! Yum. Do you think I need to get out more?
Needless to say I am that excited about our CHILD FREE WEEK (yes, week!!!) to BrisVegas this Saturday. I can’t wait to get on that Jet with the little red tail, I think I really need a trip to the City and I can tell you one thing – I won’t be visiting K-Mart.
So what have you been up to? Do your kids just love those cheap shops? Mine think Dollars and Sense is the biggest treat. It is so sad. But funny. Have a great week guys.
Hooray for Town! Nothing like a treat from K Mart. I do miss my guaranteed once a term trips to Town!
The ONLY boutique to shop at really, ha ha ha ha.
