Welcome Back Devondale Long Life Cream

January 24, 2019

Well it has been quite the saga hasn’t it.  We were all devastated when our trusted little carton of goodness left the shelves and I don’t think any of us actually thought all of our begging, emails and Facebook posts to Devondale would actually make a difference but guess what… it did.  We really did it.  Can you even believe it?  I can’t.

Power to the people!  You did it my friends.

All from this one Facebook post that I typed on a whim.  It was total word vomit.  I just sat down and my fingers tapped away and before I knew it this long post had been written, a note to Devondale…

Well that one little Facebook post vent Viral.  I couldn’t believe it.  To date that post has now reached 359,233 people!!!  Somehow I have become the unofficial voice of long life cream, ha ha ha – who’d have thought.  I really thought I was the only person angry about the discontinuation of this cream but it turns out you were all very passionate about long life cream.  Thank you so much to everyone who commented or shared this post and to everyone who called and emailed Devondale directly.  It worked.  They were bombarded with love.

Now the reason this cream was discontinued was because Devondale sold the UHT plant where this cream was made in 2017. In May 2018, Devondale was acquired by Saputo Dairy Australia, and the new owners have listened to the people and have realised just how much we all love this cream and have brought it back.  HOORAY!!!!

I have been speaking with the Devondale team and they have brought it back due to the huge demand for the product, that one little Facebook post has helped show how important it is to the people of Australia.  They really listened. Well done to you all!

The cream is now back on the shelves in Woolworths stores across Australia.  It will also be stocked in IGA stores and the MG Trading stores.

The new carton is so cool, it has a screw top lid so no need to find a pair of scissors to open it and so handy if you don’t use the whole carton.  It is also 250ml – a standard cup, which is handy.  It retails for $2.49.  Look, isn’t it just so cute…

I have cartons of this little baby back in our station store and have been using it like there is no tomorrow, beef strog, creamy garlic sauce, potato bake, pavlova and even in my coffee of a morning.  I am just loving that screw top lid.  It is a game changer.

So tell me – have you found it in your local store?  Share the love with us, post a pic on Facebook and tag #devondalelonglifecreamisback

Wooo Hoooooo!

I am so proud of us all and just so excited.  It really does show that social media can be used for good.

Devondale:  Thank you for listening to your people!

Congrats! You did it 🙂 I am loving that this is back in my local Woolies and I’ve been using it big time (even for someone who lives in a city) The new screw top I agree is an awesome addition.

What a great outcome! I think it’s fabulous that the almost accidental campaign was based on love (as you said) and not anger. It looks like you’ll be enjoying your stroganoffs and garlic sauce for a long time yet.

P.S. As someone who lives five minutes from a supermarket, I had no idea there was such a thing as long-life cream until I read this post.

I just stumbled across your blog while looking up station cooking. This is indeed good news about the cream. I remember liking/sharing the post at the time and never thought too much more about it. As a permanent traveller, and usually outback, I’ll be looking for this stuff again. Thanks for this info and a great site.

My husband and I are renting a house out at a station in North West Qld, just outside of Mount Isa. He was commuting into town on a daily basis for work, but that has ended. He is now working closer to home for a company subcontracting to a new mine closer to home towards Cloncurry. We are only 30 minutes away from town if hubby drives, or it takes me closer to an hour, as it takes a fair bit to get me up into the cab and settled. I now have a folding step to help get me up into our 4wd, it has a ribbon on it so that i can pull it up, it then folds itself and I throw it on the floor under my legs. So it is now easier for me to get out & in at the gate. (I was totally buggered after a day in town one day. I had to drop drums of recycling at the rubbish tip for sorting. Pick up bottles of QH2O. Physio/Hydrotherapy at town pool, post office, chemist. Getting my wheely walker out and in was also taking a toll on my physically and once it took me half an hour of effort to get back in the car after opening and closing the gate. Hence the new step to make life easier for me). Now where was I going with this story… Ah, the Devondale UHT cream… I use it to make lemonade scones from my Beechworth Bakery cookbook, and serve them with jam and whipped cream or butter and golden syrup. I too, have a 6 pack of them in the pantry. I also love having a bit in with my milky coffee
