Wild Spark Long Lunch Mount Isa – Tickets on Sale Now!

February 5, 2021

I can’t believe it is nearly time for our 3rd annual Wild Spark event in Mt Isa. We are doing things a little differently this year with a fabulous long lunch at Giuseppe’s Cantina Restaurant at the Ibis Hotel.

Come along to celebrate International Women’s Day and also raise funds for the RFDS – an organisation very close to our hearts and something I know we couldn’t live without here on the station. When we do have an injured or ill person I always breath a massive sigh of relief when I see that king air land on our dusty airstrip.

Each guest will be welcomed with a glass of bubbly at 11:30am upon arrival as they wander around the pop up shops and catch up with friends over canapés.

Pop Up Shops:

Ashlee Rose Bath & Body
Priceless Pearls
Sunday Cowgirl
More than Scents Essential Oils
Naudic Clothing
Isa Girl Friday Earrings & Accessories
Miss Chardy & Wild Spark

Wild Spark Luncheon – Brookfield 2019

Guest Speaker

After a good shop and catch up they will then take their seats for lunch and our guest speaker – Alana Mann. Alana will share her story with us from her childhood in Hervey Bay and where life has taken her since. I am sure we will all resonate with her values and what she is striving for professionally, here is a little more about her…

Growing up in the family fishing business in Hervey Bay, Queensland, gave me a strong sense of how dependent we are on our natural environments for our well-being and livelihoods – and how challenging that interdependence can be. This understanding continues to inform my teaching and research into food systems at the University of Sydney.

When I am not in the classroom, I spend most of my time talking to farmers and fishers – whether they be growing corn in Mexico, rice in Thailand, coffee in Cuba, wheat in Canada, cattle in Spain, or abalone in Albany!  What fascinates me is how much the people who grow and raise our food have in common, namely an overwhelming sense of care and responsibility for the land, water, and multispecies they rely on.

I am deeply concerned at how little farmers’ contribution to our food security and the health of our ecosystems is appreciated by many city dwellers. I aim to change that through my work.

Dessert will then be served while the ladies continue with fun, laughter and perhaps some more shopping. I mean does it get any better than this?
