Recommendations:

Ed – TLF Foundation

Dan – Rattle Gun and kit for changing tyres – blocks of wood, overalls, towel and shower cap to save your town clothes

Well my friends, I honestly can’t believe it is the last day of July, how on earth did that happen? Tomorrow is August, AUGUST!!!! Sweet baby cheeses.

Sorry we didn’t get a podcast recorded last week, but there is one ready to go this week… I joined a new cult back in June – Intermittent Fasting and have never felt better. I started on about the 15th June and have lost 4.6kg, 9cm from my waist, 6cm from my bum and 4cm from my thigh – I haven’t been this weight since god knows when. I came for the weight loss but am definitely sticking around for the health benefits. I think I will try and do a whole blog post about it next week. If you are interested to learn more I have a few suggestions of where to start…

  1. Podcast: Intermittent Fasting Stories with Gin Stephens – start with episode 104 with Dr Rob Jones (an Endocrinologist) and then go back and start at episode 1 with Kim Smith and work your way through.
  2. Book (I listened on Audible): Delay Don’t Deny by Gin Stephens. I also just received her new book – Fast Feast Repeat.
  3. Everything comes down to the CLEAN FAST. You must do the clean fast – that means nothing but black coffee, plain tea – unflavoured varieties like black tea or green tea, or water while you are fasting. No gum, flavoured water (no you can’t have lemon in your water), mocha teas, diet drinks, natural or artificial flavours, natural or artificial sweeteners (no you can’t have stevia), bone broth or broth, added fats, cream, supplements such as collagen.

I started with about a 16:8 approach – that is 16 hours fasting and an 8 hour eating window. I do an afternoon/evening eating window but have now moved to a 21:3 where I break my fast with a small snack and then eat a really nice full meal for dinner. You need to find what works for you – this is not a diet and we don’t count calories, we eat until we feel satisfied and we eat what ever we want. Does that mean we eat as much as we like and all the junk in the world during our window? Well you can if you like but you will probably feel like shit. You make it fit your day to day. I have never felt more freedom.

Anyway – I will do a whole post about it for anyone who is interested.

Hope you have a great weekend. I have changed our menu for tonight and we are going to have Pub Grub tonight – parmi, schmitt, chips and salad and then Thai Fakeaway tomorrow night with spaghetti bol on Sunday. I just love my dinner now and eat all of the food. I can’t wait for pub grub.

What’s happening at your place? Are you an intermittent faster? What does your daily approach look like? What is on the menu tonight?
